Parent Filling Station

Fill Mobile Gas Storages with Biogas

A parent filling station is a type of pipeline-connected gas refueling station that is connected either to a gas grid or a biogas facility. At a parent filling station, gas trailers are filled, which are then distributed to subsidiary stations to ensure a reliable supply of biogas.

Efficient Biogas Filling of Mobile Gas Storage

A common use case for parent filling stations is to place them in close proximity to a biogas plant, where they fill mobile gas storage for further transport to subsidiary stations. This ensures an efficient and reliable supply of biomethane to users.

In addition to filling gas containers, parent filling stations can also be equipped with standard dispensers for direct refueling of compressed biogas (CBG). This provides efficient and continuous access to CBG for both vehicles and gas containers without the need for mobile gas storage.

By customizing our gas filling stations and systems to your specific capacity needs, we can offer cost-effective and sustainable solutions that suit your unique circumstances. Our goal is to help you optimize your operations, reduce operating costs, and make your energy supply more environmentally friendly.

Multistation at Bettorps bus depot in Örebro: Filling station and parent filling station in one

At the Bettorp bus depot in Örebro, we delivered a true multi-function station that serves multiple purposes at once. The facility receives its supply of biogas from Örebro’s local biogas network and functions both as a filling station for the region’s biomethane buses and as a parent filling station that fills mobile gas containers with biomethane. This allows for maximizing the facility’s capacity and usage while ensuring efficient and reliable gas supply for the entire region.

Parent Filling Station in Karlskoga for Local Biogas

Adjacent to Gottebol’s biogas plant, we have built a combined parent filling and filling station to supply both waste collection vehicles and private cars with locally produced biomethane. The facility contributes to allowing the people of Karlskoga to fuel their gas vehicles with environmentally friendly biomethane, while supporting a more sustainable and circular economy.

In addition to serving as a filling station for vehicles, the facility is also designed to fill up to ten mobile gas containers simultaneously with biomethane. This enables efficient distribution of biomethane to other locations, further strengthening the region’s ability to utilize locally produced biomethane.

In Sävsjö, we have supplemented our previous facility with an additional compressor to increase capacity and create redundancy.

Parent Filling Station in Sävsjö: Expansion for Increased Capacity and Redundancy

Originally, we built the first parent filling station for Sävsjö Biogas back in 2011, preparing the building for the addition of an extra compressor. In 2019, we carried out a significant upgrade of the facility to both increase capacity and create redundancy in the system.

As part of the upgrade, we installed a second Pignone compressor and upgraded the PLC system, which helped improve the system’s efficiency and reliability. In addition, we expanded the number of trailer spots to meet the increasing demand for biogas and enhance the facility’s capacity to distribute gas to various locations.

In addition to the parent filling station functions, the Sävsjö facility also offers a dispenser for direct vehicle gas refueling. This allows local vehicles to easily and conveniently refuel with biogas directly from the facility.

Parent Filling Station in Rygg, Tönsberg: Supplying biogas-powered garbage trucks and mobile gas trailers

The station supplies 25 gas-powered garbage trucks with biomethane through slow filling on the ramp. This allows the garbage trucks to refuel overnight or during longer breaks, minimizing operational disruptions and ensuring they are ready for use during the workday.

In addition to slow filling for garbage trucks, there is also a dispenser for fast filling available to the public. This gives the local population the opportunity to refuel their gas-powered vehicles in a convenient and easy manner.

The parent filling station in Rygg, Tönsberg, is also designed to simultaneously fill up to 6 mobile gas trailers for the distribution of biomethane to Air Liquide Skagerak’s filling stations that are not connected to the pipeline network. This increases the station’s flexibility and enables efficient distribution of biomethane to multiple locations.

By offering a combination of slow filling, fast filling, and mobile gas trailer filling, the parent filling station in Rygg, Tönsberg, meets a variety of needs and supports a sustainable and environmentally friendly transport sector in the region.
