Mobile gas storage
Supplying gas to subsidiary stations via our mobile gas storage facilities
For biogas and hydrogen - from production to user
Processkontroll Green Technology has developed an innovative and pioneering transportation system to meet the green energy gas needs of its daughter stations. By using the existing standardized swap body system, which is already used in a variety of transports, we can offer a fast and smooth docking for our mobile biogas and hydrogen gas storage facilities.
Strategically positioned next to the filling station, these mobile gas storage units are easily connected via a hose located in a special compartment at the end of the unit. During transportation, the hose is stored safely and locked away, contributing to trouble-free handling.
In addition to being used at daughter stations, our mobile gas flares can also supply our decompression facilities with fossil-free energy when needed. By controlling the decompression, the pressure is regulated down under automated heating to the desired use pressure. This process ensures an efficient and safe conversion of the gas to a suitable pressure for use in different applications.
Steel or composite bottles? - choose according to your needs
We offer two different types of gas tank storage: a traditional variant with steel cylinders that holds 2 tons of biogas and another made of composite material that holds 4.5 tons of gas. Composite materials reduce weight and double the capacity of transported volume of methane gas, resulting in efficient handling and optimized costs.
A steel flatrack normally involves a lower investment, lower capacity and is suitable for shorter distances. For longer distances and larger quantities of gas, composite cylinders with double the capacity are suitable but at a higher investment cost.
All our mobile biogas and hydrogen cylinders are fully approved according to the current standards for the transportation of dangerous goods - ADR-S.
10-year checks and renovations of mobile gas cylinders
The ADR regulations require periodic inspections of TPED cylinders to be carried out by accredited inspection bodies at 10-year intervals. The regulations require that each individual cylinder undergoes a full inspection. For a MEG container, this means that all cylinders must be dismantled in order to be inspected.
Processkontroll Green Technology offers a basic level of compliance with ADR requirements. In addition, repairs and renovations can be carried out according to your wishes for each individual unit.
To comply with ADR regulations, the following steps are taken
We drain and burn off the residual gas from the unit and purge it with nitrogen using our proprietary automated inerting system for safe handling. We then dismantle your entire mobile gas storage unit, including plates, beams and ceilings, panels, piping and the gas cylinders which are cleaned and visually checked externally and internally by inspection camera.
We test-print composite cylinders in our in-house developed test-printing facility, dry the cylinders and mark them with the inspection date. An inspection report according to ADR and TPED is carried out by an accredited inspection body, such as DEKRA.
For gas storage with steel cylinders, we send the gas cylinders externally where the cylinders are blasted and repainted, pressure tested, inspected and accredited.
For both steel and composite bearings, the gas bearing is then reassembled - as agreed with the customer with new valves, hoses, etc. until your mobile gas bearing is again in new condition. After drying to the prescribed dew point, the gas storage is documented and we fill it to maximum working pressure for final inspection according to the procedure for first filling.
ADR regulations require MEG containers to be leak tested to the maximum allowable operating pressure before the unit is put into service. We normally do this on site at our premises. Alternatively, the MEG Container can be filled and leak tested at the customer's filling facility. Costs for travel time, accredited inspection body and a technician from Processkontroll Green Technology will be added in this case.
5-year check
At the 5-year inspection, the requirements of the ADR regulations are lower and vary with the type of gas storage. Here, after an inspection, we can recommend you the necessary measures in addition to the mandatory test pressure at maximum working pressure and the inspection report from an accredited inspection body.
